As a photographer, there are moments that touch our hearts and leave us feeling grateful for the opportunity to capture the beauty of life. One such experience was the maternity series I had the privilege of creating with my dear friend, Hannah. We crossed paths a couple of years ago during a transformative yoga teacher training at Indigo Wellness. It was an experience that not only deepened our understanding of yoga but also brought us together as dear friends. From the moment we connected we quickly discovered our shared love for all things hippy, crunchy, artsy and organic.
From the moment Hannah shared the news of her pregnancy, I knew I wanted to document her journey in a way that celebrated her strength and the incredible transformation her body would undergo.

In this series, I chose to embrace the soft and ethereal quality of natural light. The gentle light that streamed through the bedroom window became the perfect companion to showcase the radiant beauty of Hannah during her pregnancy. Each session was a dance with the changing tones of light, resulting in a unique atmosphere for every photograph.
From the first session to the last, it was awe-inspiring to witness the gradual transformation of Hannah's body. She truly embodied the essence of a goddess, and my goal was to capture that essence in every frame. We experimented with different poses and angles, allowing her to feel comfortable and confident while showcasing her growing belly. The joy and anticipation in her eyes were palpable, and it was an honor to preserve those precious moments.

One of the beautiful aspects of this maternity series was its spontaneity. We didn't set specific dates for the photoshoots, allowing the sessions to unfold naturally as Hannah's pregnancy progressed. This meant that the lighting conditions varied from session to session, adding an organic touch to the series. The ever-changing tones of light became a visual representation of the different stages of her pregnancy, making each photograph a unique and cherished memory.

As I witnessed the evolution of Hannah's body, I couldn't help but be in awe of the miracle of life. Each photograph in the series tells a story of love, strength, and the incredible bond between a mother and her unborn child. These images will serve as a timeless reminder of the beautiful journey Hannah embarked upon, as well as a testament to her unwavering love for her sweet baby girl.

Creating this maternity series was an experience that touched my soul. The beauty and grace that radiated from Hannah throughout her pregnancy was truly a sight to behold. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to capture these precious moments and preserve them for generations to come. May these images serve as a reminder of the incredible power of motherhood and the beauty that lies within every woman.

In Home Session - Salem, OR https://www.noeljeanninephotography.com/blog/2020/2/inhomesessionsalemor In Home and Lifestyle PhotographyIn Home Session in Salem Oregon

I was invited into my good friends little farm house in Salem Oregon to document her littles just being who they are. No special clothes, no specific look or idea in mind. This mama just wanted this moment in life captured. My friend is a hard working, goal getting, driven women. She's been such an inspiration for me as a mother and a business owner. She owns her shit and gets things done. She has a work/life balance formula that is working for her - this is part of the family balance - kids driving mom insane in her own jungle bedroom.

I hope you enjoyed my favorite images from this - in the moment - in home session. Goodness does this mama have her hands full with three kiddos! I know these images will be cherished by her and her little ones! Such a sweet time with them. The dynamic between the older two sibling and the baby of the house is precious! She definitely rules the roost!

This weekend was such a tease with the on and off winter wet/sunny weather! Thankfully my job and be taken inside - where it’s still warm and cozy. JUST Think, you wouldn’t have to choose a location or leave the house by a certain time to make it to the session! I come to you, in your home and we document what is happening - IN THE MOMENT. No need to get dressed up fancy or even clean the house to its pre-children days. Home is where magic happens and real memories are made. Your children will remember you the way you always are - so why not document some of that goodness. Sometimes I wish I could bottle ALL the things that me and my kids do in a day together. If you are one of my follower on my personal instagram page (@momentsbynoel) you know I don’t have a shortage of candid and in the moment images of my kiddos. BUT - There are a select few with me in them. One of my goals this year is to get in the frame more with my babies (well not so baby anymore). It’s also my goal to capture more MAMAS in their homes doing their thing with the kids! Making breakfast, hanging out in mama's bed, reading stories or whatever YOU do with your kiddos. These moments are precious and fleeting. Every time I get the chance to document a family - however they choose I am honored to be a part of their story...

Homeschooling Journey {Grade 1 & Preschool Year 1} https://www.noeljeanninephotography.com/blog/2020/2/homeschooling-journey-grade-1-preschool-year-1 Most of my friends know that I used to be a Waldorf preschool teacher in Portland Oregon. During that time I learned so much about how to be present and hold space for children. That experience lead me to wanting to continue that method of education for my daughter but Waldorf schools are so expensive! Plus I've always had my heart on homeschooling my child (at that time there was only my Isabel) I just didn't know how yet. If you search "Waldorf Homeschooling" online you will be (if you like me) overwhelmed by shear about of information out there. I wanted to just buy all the curriculum and pick and choose what I wanted to use. I found out quickly that it would be way to expensive and way to much work. As I did more research (like two years worth), I also realized that the authors of each curriculum put so much, time, thought and their own experience into the work. In the end I ended up with two different curriculum purchases. (non affiliated links below)

OK - to get to the point of this blog post. I want to document my journey using the Waldorf education to homeschool my children and enrich our lives. Waldorf education is so magical and beautiful. It brings a richness to the view on life and an appreciation for the earth. Using art to connect the child on a spiritual level to each lesson. Whether it's with a beautiful watercolor painting or a chalk drawing its all so wholesome.

Today is our first day of school. Steiner emphasized on the emotional and mental energy the teacher would bring into the classroom. BECAUSE I was nervous/tired I decided to start one day later than planned. I think that's completely ok for me and what I had to do to bring that light and loving energy to my kids. The me two years ago (before I started Steiner's inner work) I would have either  -  struggled through the first day  -  or  -  not started at all for another week because I would have beaten myself up about not starting when planned. NOW fellow mamas, NOW, I know better. I know that I have to care for myself fully. Mentally, physically and spiritually before I can bring a good lesson to my children. My weekend consisted of two 3 hour photography events, a senior portrait session and meal preparing for 5 families! Yes I said 5! Being a #boss is very tiring/rewarding. Hence starting homeschooling one day later. Today I took the time for myself to meditate, do yoga, write and read through lesson 1 this morning.

Lets Get Real About This https://www.noeljeanninephotography.com/blog/2017/7/lets-get-real-about-this Being a mom of two littles and trying to run a household and a business or two is a handful. Hence this one and only blog post! On June 29, 2016 we received the keys to our home, the same day I went into labor with our second born. We own this amazing historic home in a beautiful little town next to the wine country in Oregon. Since that day my husband and I have dreamed of turning this colorful home into a bed and breakfast ~ Little Homestead B & B ~ One day that dream will be a reality. As will my dream of becoming a yoga instructor/photographer. Till then I will enjoy this time with my children. Watching them grow and capturing the moments with my 50mm. Slowing down and relaxing is something I'm learning to do each day. Reminding myself to breath and truly enjoy each moment is my only goal in 2017. This year its only about family and being present for my children. Enjoying homeschooling my daughter and watching my youngest, my 1 year old son grow too fast. Maybe one day this blog will become my haven like it has for some others that I follow. Till then, I think I'm going to bed.
